Grayson Co. woman severely injured after car hits dump truck head-on in Leitchfield

A Grayson County woman suffered severe injuries after colliding head-on with a dump truck in Leitchfield.

On Monday afternoon at approximately 3:35, Leitchfield Police Officers Chuck Hoover, Bart Glenn and Greg Whobrey, the Leitchfield Fire Department, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, and EMS responded to the crash in the 700 block of West Main Street at the intersection of Basham Drive.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that, based on marks at the scene, a Ford Taurus, being driven west on West Main Street by a Grayson County woman, drifted into the eastbound lane and struck a dump truck head-on. The dump truck was loaded with rocks.

The female driver of the Ford, believed to be in her 40s, was extricated from the vehicle by Leitchfield fire personnel and transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center. She was later airlifted to a hospital.

The male driver of the dump truck was not injured.

The dump truck is owned by Hodges Trucking out of Sonora.
