A Grayson County man was airlifted after a tractor and bush hog flipped down a steep embankment.

The Leitchfield Fire Department, Grayson County Sgt. Jordan Jones and Deputy Sean Fentress and EMS responded to the accident in the 1500 block of Clifty Church Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found a Grayson County man in his 60s was bush hogging when the tractor flipped multiple times down a steep embankment. The tractor and bush hog came to rest in a tree line.

The man suffered “major injuries,” according to first responders, and was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center by EMS before being airlifted to a Louisville hospital.

There was a delay in the man being transported from the scene, as the thre ambulances serving the county were on calls. A Breckinridge County ambulance was requested but couldn’t arrive at the scene for about 20 minutes.

Prior to the Breckinridge County ambulance arriving, a Grayson County EMS ambulance finished its previous run and responded and transported the victim.

During the delay, the victim was treated at the scene by Leitchfield Fire Chief Tim Duvall, who is also an EMT, and other LFD personnel trained in medical care.

(Correction: The article has been amended to say that there were three Grayson Co. ambulances on duty and that Leitchfield Fire Chief is an EMT, not a paramedic)
