Police in Butler County are investigating an apparent fatal overdose.

The incident occurred Monday at Green River Lodge at 461 South Tyler Street in Morgantown.

The Beech Tree News reports that someone was found deceased at the lodge from a possible drug overdose, and “a second individual is in custody as a person-of-interest in the death.”

The Morgantown Police Department and Kentucky State Police are leading the death investigation.

This possible fatal overdose comes eight days after a 37-year-old Leitchfield man died of an overdose.

On Sunday morning June 2 at approximately 2:00, the Leitchfield Police and Fire Departments and EMS responded to South Claggett Drive on the report of an unresponsive male.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a 37-year-old male had suffered a fatal overdose. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Grayson County Coroner Larry Holeman.

Further investigation showed the man ingested a purplish substance of what is thought to be a mixture of heroin and fentanyl, according to Holeman.

A similar substance – a purplish mixture of heroin and fentanyl — was seized in late April when three Clarkson residents were arrested by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office on various drug charges.
