Grayson County High School softball coach Penny Reece has resigned to accept the same position at Bowling Green High School.
Reece spent three years at the helm of the Lady Cougars compiling a 44-62 record.
She returned to Leitchfield in 2022 after serving stints as the head coach at Greenwood and Meade County for a combined 24 years. At Greenwood, she was named state coach of the year six times and won three state titles, 11 regional championships, and 16 district titles.
A Grayson County alum, Reece is a member of the school’s hall of fame where she was a three-sport star (softball, basketball, and track). She continued her career by playing college basketball at Lindsey Wilson College and Bethel University
This past season, the team finished with their first winning record, and most wins in a single season, since 2018 when they finished as the region runner-up.
A search for her replacement is expected to begin immediately.
