Two juveniles have been injured, one critically, after an ATV vs. vehicle crash on a Daviess County roadway.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred Thursday night at approximately 8:30 when a northbound ATV was struck by a northbound passenger car in the 7300 block of Hwy 81 (Old Calhoun Rd.).
The investigation, the sheriff’s office said, showed that a four-wheeler, being driven by a 13-year-old and with a 12-year-old passenger, was traveling north on Hwy 81 “in an unlighted portion of the highway when a 2019 Honda passenger car that was also traveling northbound came upon them.”
The Honda’s driver did not immediately see the four-wheeler and was unable to stop before striking the ATV.
Both juveniles were transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. The 12-year-old was later airlifted to a Louisville hospital where the victim is listed in critical condition, the sheriff’s office stated. The 13-year-old is in stable condition.
