Recent heavy rains and breezy conditions likely contributed to a huge tree falling on an occupied mobile home on Tuesday.
The Leitchfield Fire and Police Departments, Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Grayson Co. Emergency Management, and EMS responded to the incident Tuesday afternoon at approximately 1:00 in the 300 block of West Walnut Street. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found a large tree had crashed into a mobile home containing a female occupant.
The woman suffered no injuries, but according to neighbors, was unsurprisingly traumatized by the incident. She was helped out of the trailer by first-responders.
Leitchfield Fire Chief told K105 that the tree’s root system was weakened by the heavy rains the area has experienced over the last few weeks. That, coupled with breezy conditions Tuesday afternoon, contributed to the near catastrophic event.
“The woman was thankfully very lucky,” Duvall said.
