A Leitchfield man has died from a drug overdose.

Sunday morning at approximately 2:00, the Leitchfield Police and Fire Departments and EMS responded to South Claggett Drive on the report of an unresponsive male.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a 37-year-old male had suffered a fatal overdose. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Grayson County Coroner Larry Holeman.

Further investigation showed the man ingested a purplish substance of what is thought to be a mixture of heroin and fentanyl, according to Holeman.

Holeman, showing concern for those who use any type of drugs, told K105: “You better know your drug dealer better than you know your wife or best friend” because a drug dealer can kill a user, either accidentally or purposefully, by putting fentanyl on or in practically any drug.

A similar substance – a purplish mixture of heroin and fentanyl — was seized in late April when three Clarkson residents were arrested by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office on various drug charges.
