A Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) worker has saved a baby deer from the Western Kentucky Parkway.

KYTC, in a social post, said employee Nathan Hawkins “saved a fawn from crossing the parkway today while cleaning up trees on the Western Kentucky Parkway” in Muhlenberg County.

Hawkins, of Central City, previously showed his love of animals with a Facebook post in April where he apparently found a beagle puppy near a major roadway.

He wrote, “anyone missing a beagle puppy? last seen him at the end of whitmer street on the 431 side? afraid he’s gonna end up getting hit being that close to 431.”

Hawkins has worked for KYTC since August 2023, according to his social media profile.
