Police are looking for two men who fled police and pulled a firearm on Butler Co. deputies when spotted at a Morgantown gas station.

Kentucky State Police said that troopers on Friday night at approximately 10:10 were conducting a traffic safety checkpoint on Hwy 31-E in Hart County when a 2015 Mercedes GL3 fled from the checkpoint.

The driver, 28-year-old Anthony Manning, of Hopkinsville, fled from police onto Hwy 70 before entering I-65 south. Manning, who had a single passenger in the car, fled at speeds reaching 130 miles per hour, according to state police, and turned off his lights as he further attempted to elude troopers.

Manning, at one point, began traveling in the northbound I-65 lanes as troopers lost sight of the suspect.

Later that evening, KSP Post 3 in Bowling Green was contacted by Butler County Dispatch and advised that Butler County deputies had located the vehicle at a gas station in Morgantown.

Police said Manning and his passenger fled on foot, with the unknown passenger brandishing a firearm. A Butler Co. deputy fired a shot at the suspect “then lost sight of the subjects in a heavily wooded area,” Kentucky State Police said.

Butler County deputies were not injured and “there is no evidence to suggest that the suspects sustained injuries,” police said.

Multiple law enforcement units responded to the area and conducted a search but were unable to locate Manning or his passenger.

The investigation into the pursuit and the officer-involved shooting remains ongoing by KSP Post 3.
