A Grayson County High School Family and Consumer Science teacher has been selected as one of only four national Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Adult Award winners.

Cody Mooneyhan was named National STAR Events Volunteer for 2024 and will be recognized at the National Leadership Conference this summer in Seattle.

According to FCCLA national, “these prestigious awards honor exceptional individuals who dedicate themselves to enhancing opportunities for FCCLA Members through tireless efforts behind the scenes. These leaders have played a crucial role in advancing the mission of FCCLA and fostering an environment where student leaders can thrive. We are immensely grateful for their commitment to the organization.”

STAR events are competitive arenas for students to demonstrate their understanding of and skills in a variety of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) categories. The STAR Events Volunteer Awards recognizes leaders who exemplify a commitment to the continued success of STAR Events and FCCLA.

Mooneyhan has previously been recognized with the 2019-20 Educated Adviser Award, one of only two advisers to receive this national honor. She also earned the Award of Merit from the National Association of Teachers of FCS (NATFCS).

She serves in state leadership roles as a member of both the Kentucky Association for Career & Technical Education and the Kentucky Association of Teachers of Family and Consumer Sciences state boards (FCS Service Area Vice President). She is also President-Elect for NATFCS and will serve for a three-year term on the national board beginning this summer.
