The trial of the three defendants in the Crystal Rogers murder case could be moved to a southwestern Kentucky county.

The three defendants, Brooks Houck, Steven E. Lawson and his son, Joseph L. Lawson, appealed to have the high-profile murder case moved out of Nelson County due to pretrial publicity and the likelihood that an impartial jury could not be seated.

Special Prosecutor Shane Young, the Hardin County Commonwealth’s Attorney, agreed.

According to WAVE.com, Nelson County Circuit Court Judge Charles Simms will soon travel to Christian County, a location both the defense and prosecution have agreed on, to determine if the courthouse is suitable “for a trial of this magnitude.”

Simms, following his trip to Christian County, will announce his decision.

Houck, Rogers’ boyfriend at the time of her disappearance on July 3, 2015, has been charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. Both Lawsons have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence.
