A missing person’s case became a murder investigation following the discovery of a burned, fatally shot male in an Allen County backyard.

Kentucky State Police said troopers and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday night responded to the residence at 140 McDonald Road in Adophus, about nine miles south of Scottsville, after the mother of the missing man, 31-year-old Johnny L. Crawford, originally from Bethpage, Tennessee, found a boot belonging to him near a fire pit in the backyard of the home.

The McDonald Road residence was the last place Crawford’s mother knew he resided, according to a report by the Bowling Green Daily News. She had not heard from her son since March 14.

Upon law enforcement arriving at the home, they discovered Crawford’s body in the burn pit, Kentucky State Police said. He had been shot twice.

On Thursday afternoon, police arrested 68-year-old Glen L. Snook, of Adolphus, after finding him hiding in his home. Snook, according to people in the area, had previously threatened to kill Crawford, the Bowling Green newspaper reports.

He was charged with murder, third-degree arson, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and abuse of a corpse.

Snook was lodged in the Allen County Detention Center on a $500,000 cash bond.
