A Bullitt County man has pled guilty in the fentanyl overdose death of his one-year-old daughter.
Christopher VanMeter, 36, of Mt. Washington, pled guilty on Tuesday to reckless homicide after his daughter, Kamrynn F. VanMeter, died after overdosing on fentanyl she found in the residence.
The incident occurred on April 6, 2023, when Mt. Washington police responded to Beachwood Lane on the report of an unresponsive child. Upon arriving at the home, officers found Kamrynn unresponsive. Christopher VanMeter and several other people were inside the home.
Kamrynn was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Christopher VanMeter was initially charged with second-degree manslaughter, two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance (fentanyl, methamphetamine) and two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
According to WAVE.com, Christopher VanMeter’s plea agreement calls for him to serve 15 years in prison.
