A 78-year-old man has been accused of shooting and killing his wife.

Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones said that Thursday morning at 8:30 deputies were dispatched to the 12000 block of North Hwy 27 in Eubank on the report of two unresponsive individuals.

The female who called 911 said when her mother-in-law, 67-years-old Doris S. Brock, failed to show up for work she went to her residence to check on her. When the woman arrived, she found Brock and her husband, 78-year-old James L. Brock, unresponsive.

Doris Brock was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office. James Brock was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital “for treatment of what appeared to be a drug overdose,” Jones said.

The investigation showed that Doris Brock was shot by a handgun Wednesday while she was in the living room of the residence. Detectives determined James Brock was the person who shot his wife during a verbal altercation.

“A warrant was filed on James L. Brock, charging him with the murder of Doris S. Brock,” Jones said. He was taken into custody at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing and being led by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.

As of 8:15 Thursday night, Brock was not listed on the roster of inmates lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
