Police are asking for help identifying the person who stole a box trailer from a construction site in Leitchfield.
On Thursday morning, the Leitchfield Police Department responded to the construction site of the new Save-A-Lot in the 500 block Mill Street in reference to a large box trailer being stolen.
Upon arriving at the scene, the victim told police that a 24-foot enclosed trailer was stolen from the construction site. The trailer contained construction tools, HVAC parts and equipment, according to LPD Det. Sgt. Ian Renfrow.
Nearby surveillance video shows the trailer leaving the area at approximately 1:30 Thursday morning. Police have determined the male’s vehicle turned south onto North Main Street from Mill Street, but the vehicle turned before going around the Leitchfield Public Square.
“The vehicle pulling the trailer is believed to be a white SUV, unknown make and model at this time,” Renfrow stated.
At the time of the theft, the trailer had a large decal on the back with the #10.
The person in the photo accompanying this story is “considered to be a person of interest and police hope to identify and locate this male who may be able to provide assisting information in the investigation,” Renfrow said.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the trailer, tools or the person of interest is asked to contact the Leitchfield Police Department at 270-259-3850.
