The East Grayson and Clarkson Fire Department battled a large field fire on Wednesday.
Constable Bill Dalton, who also serves on the Clarkson Fire Department, first reported the fire on Watkins Road (off Summit Road), as he was in the area Wednesday afternoon at about 12:30 as the fire began to spread from a controlled brush fire. The wind, Dalton said, spread the fire to a large field.
Dalton called for both fire departments, as approximately 15 firefighters successfully battled to contain the rapidly spreading blaze from a nearby wooded area.
Firefighters battled the fire for more than two hours, as fire personnel estimated that around 20 acres were charred.
No structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported.
