A WKU student and member of the school’s bass fishing team has been killed in a boating accident in South Carolina.
Jonathan Brian, 21, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday morning at Prisma Health Richland in Newberry County, South Carolina, according to WKUHerald.com.
The accident, which involved four fishermen and two boats, happened on Lake Murray on January 25 as Brian and three other fishermen were preparing for a Bassmaster Series tournament held over the weekend. The other three fishermen were hospitalized and later released.
Newberry County Sheriff Lee Foster told WIS News 10 that the collision occurred during practice, prior to the tournament.
Brian was a junior at WKU.
