A Beaver Dam man has been arrested after police received a tip about drug activity, according to the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office.

On Tuesday afternoon, Ohio County deputies and the Beaver Dam Police Department “acted on information that there were illegal narcotics at a residence in Beaver Dam,” the sheriff’s office said.

Upon arriving at the home, detectives made contact with 58-year-old Mark Masterson and discovered he was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Masterson, a felon, was also in possession of a firearm.

Masterson was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, his second such offense), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of drug paraphernalia. The drug charges are enhanced due to the presence of a firearm.

He was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center.

According to the Kentucky Department of Corrections, Masterson was placed in pre-trial diversion in March 2020 after being convicted of possession of methamphetamine in Ohio County. He is on probation until March 2025.
