Man shot after pointing gun at Marshall Co. deputy

A man has been shot after pointing a gun at a Marshall County deputy.

The incident began Tuesday morning at approximately 4:30 when a deputy “was checking on suspicious activity on Harold King Drive in Benton,” according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arriving at the scene, a male pointed a firearm at the deputy, with the deputy shooting the suspect.

The man was transported to Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital in Paducah with non-life threatening injuries.

A second man at the scene was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, according to police.

At the request of Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hilbrecht, Kentucky State Police is leading the investigation.
