A man has been killed after being struck by a train.
The accident happened Wednesday afternoon near Hustonville when 70-year-old Danny L. Dunaway, of Hustonville, was struck as he drove his truck across railroad tracks at the intersection of Hwy 2141 and Community Center Drive.
“(The engineer) says he pulled up to the track, stopped, pulled up a little bit more, and then proceeded on and pulled into the path of the train,” Lincoln County Coroner Farris Marcum told WKYT.com.
The railroad crossing does not have a crossbar, but does have flashing lights and a whistle.
The Norfolk Southern train was carrying a double-decker load of boxcars.
The victim’s family told WKYT.com that Dunaway may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.
