A teenager has been charged with attempted murder following an altercation in Morgantown.
Morgantown Police Chief Giles Taylor said the incident began when officers received a report of shots fired at the Old River Boat Ramp at approximately 10:30 Thursday night.
Upon arriving at the scene, police interviewed several witnesses and gathered statements regarding the incident. Based on those statements, officers learned a male Morgantown juvenile was involved in an altercation with 18-year-old Keenan Noffsinger, of Central City, at the boat ramp.
Noffsinger, Taylor said, “struck the juvenile during the fight and proceeded to his vehicle to grab a firearm.”
Another juvenile intervened and attempted to apprehend an armed Noffsinger when both “went to the ground and a shot was fired point blank at the juveniles face,” nearly striking the juvenile, according to Taylor.
The juvenile suffered facial and neck wounds from shrapnel when the bullet struck gravel.
Noffsinger was apprehended at his parent’s home in Bremen at approximately 2:30 Friday morning. He was charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, first-degree attempted assault, and eight counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and lodged in the Butler County Jail.
