A tractor-trailer crashed on Falls of Rough Road (Hwy 79), injuring the driver and killing thousands of chickens.

Sunday night at 9:25, the Caneyville Fire Department, Grayson County Deputy Thomas Lane, EMS, Grayson Co. Emergency Management Deputy Director Blake Schroerlucke, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, and Perdue Farms officials responded to the crash in the 4800 block of Falls of Rough Road.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that a southbound JB Hunt semi carrying approximately 80,000 pounds of live chickens in crates left the roadway and entered a ditch. The semi traveled in the ditch for approximately 150 feet before overturning.

The driver was transported to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries. Thousands of chickens were killed in the crash.

The roadway was shut down while the truck was removed from the scene. Several Perdue Farms employees were on hand to clean the scene.

Caneyville fire personnel cleared the scene at 11:30 p.m. as transportation cabinet employees conducted traffic control.
