The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office recently raised money for a cancer patient to purchase a new vehicle.

Kelly Lampton was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma in 2012 and had a tumor removed as well as a hysterectomy. The tumor, Sheriff Norman Chaffins said, reappeared in 2020 “and she has been fighting an aggressive battle since 2021.”

Lampton and her husband, Eddie, drive to Louisville several times per week for lab work and blood transfusions, Chaffins noted. And their vehicle has over 310,000 miles and “the motor just went out.”

The goal of the fundraiser was to raise $10,000.

In less than a week, enough money had been raised to purchase the couple a 2016 Lincoln MKC Premiere.

“Now, she and Eddie can focus on her treatments and not on how they are going to get back and forth to the hospital,” Chaffins said. “On behalf of the Lampton’s and ‘Behind the Badge,’ thank you Grayson County.”
