
A student at Asbury University has been hospitalized after suffering serious injuries in her dorm room.
The Jessamine County Sheriff’s office said the woman was found unresponsive by her roommate in their dorm room on November 27. The student was transported to a local hospital where she was admitted to the intensive care unit.
The woman’s lawyer told WKYT.com that the student was injured during a violent assault. Police said the victim had several injuries.
The Jessamine County Sheriff’s Office and Asbury University are conducting a joint investigation.
Asbury University is a private Christian college in Wilmore. It has approximately 1,800 students.
The university issued the following statement to the Lexington television station:
Asbury University is aware of a recent report of an incident on its campus. The matter is being investigated by appropriate authorities with the University’s full cooperation. At this time, Asbury is not aware of any information to indicate a current threat to members of the campus community. Asbury’s priority remains the safety and wellbeing of its students, faculty and staff.
