A tractor-trailer carrying lumber crashed on the Western Kentucky Parkway while swerving to miss a deer.

Tuesday evening at approximately 6:10, Grayson County Sergeants Erik Franklin and Jordan Jones, the Caneyville Fire Department and the state Highway Department responded to the crash at the 91-mile marker of the eastbound parkway.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found that the driver of the Vancore (Northbrook, Illinois) semi, carrying 70,000 pounds of lumber, and in an attempt to avoid a deer, swerved off the roadway and entered a ditch.

The driver was uninjured.

It took the towing crew nearly nine hours to remove the semi from the scene, as Caneyville Fire Chief Brian Pharris, who sent his crew home at about 10:30 Tuesday night, cleared the scene at approximately 2:45 Wednesday morning.
