Kentucky State Police has released information on a school bus crash in Breckinridge County.

State police said troopers responded to the accident Monday afternoon at approximately 3:35 in the 700 block of Rosetta Corners Road, about three miles northwest of Custer.

The preliminary investigation showed that 29-year-old Gilbert Edlin, of Elizabethtown, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck south and, after cresting a hill, the Chevy crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2019 Freightliner school bus head-on.

Edlin was airlifted to the University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Thirty-one students were on the bus at the time of the collision. Four were taken to Baptist Health Hardin by ambulance with minor injuries. All four students were released a short time later, police said.

The remainder of the students, according to police, were released to parents and guardians at the scene.

The school bus was being driven by 61-year-old Deborah Matthews, of Custer. She was not injured.
