A murder suspect who slipped out of his ankle monitor in Pulaski County has been arrested.

Pulaski County Sheriff Bobby Jones said 24-year-old Samuel Baker, of Somerset, was captured in El Dorado, Kansas. Baker and the woman he fled with, 28-year-old Adriana Brown, are being held in the Butler County (KS) Jail on local charges.

Baker was arrested and later indicted for murder in the March 2021 shooting death of Robert Claunch. Baker was also indicted for first-degree burglary, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and persistent felony offender.

Baker, Jones said, was granted a bond reduction in August 2023 while awaiting trial and was placed on home incarceration with an ankle monitor.

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Baker removed his ankle monitoring device and left his home on Hwy 39 in Somerset in a Chevrolet Corvette. It is believed that when Baker fled from the residence he took a firearm with him.

The Corvette was recovered in northern Pulaski County.
