A WKU student from Lexington has been struck and killed in Bowling Green.

The Bowling Green Police Department said officers responded to the accident Friday evening at 5:15 on Campbell Lane at the intersection of Fields Drive (near Juicy Seafood and Shogun Bistro). Police said 22-year-old Daishyera Chanel Marie Garner was first struck by a vehicle that was entering a turn lane. Garner was the tossed into another lane where she was hit by another vehicle.

She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Garner was a 2019 graduate of Dunbar High School in Lexington. She was set to graduate from WKU in May 2022.

The investigation is ongoing. Police said it does not appear alcohol played a role in the accident.
