Three Breckinridge County residents have died in a two-vehicle accident.
Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the crash Friday afternoon at approximately 3:25 near the intersection of Hwy 86 and Hwy 690 in Custer.
The preliminary investigation revealed that 59-year-old Charles Lucas, of Irvington, was driving a 2013 Toyota truck west on Hwy 86 when he crossed the center line and into the path of an eastbound 2009 Ford Escape, being driven by 37-year-old Kenneth Smallwood, of Harned.
Lucas was transported to Baptist Health Hardin where he later succumbed to his injuries. A passenger in Lucas’ vehicle, 55-year-old Edna Lucas, of Irvington, and Smallwood, were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office.
A three-year-old passenger in Smallwood’s vehicle was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation by accident re-constructionist, Trooper Tyler Lynch.
