An eastern Kentucky woman who went missing with her young niece has been found, arrested and charged with counts indicating police believe she killed the child.
Brittany Slaughter, 23, of Williamsburg, and her niece, four-year-old Chloe Darnel, who Slaughter has custody of, disappeared in September, according to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Office. Slaughter was found Thursday night sometime before 9:00, but without Darnel. The sheriff’s office said Slaughter was found “locally.”
Slaughter was booked into the Whitley County Detention Center at 4:10 Friday morning and charged with murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence. Charges that indicate law enforcement may believe she killed her niece.
The Whitley County Sheriff’s Office has not released information regarding Slaughter’s arrest. The sheriff’s office only states that the investigation is ongoing.
