A 20-year-old Pulaski County man is on the run after allegedly shooting and killing his father and grandfather and shooting and stabbing his grandmother.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said multiple law enforcement agencies responded Tuesday night at 11:45 to a home on Raleigh Road in Science Hill on the report of a shooting.
Upon arriving at the residence, police found 67-year-old Ardyth Prather Jr., deceased from gunshot wounds. His wife, 65-year-old Joann Prather, had been shot and stabbed. She was airlifted to a Lexington hospital. Her condition, according to Sheriff Bobby Jones, is currently unknown.
During the investigation, Jones said investigators noticed blood on the door of a neighboring residence. Police entered the home and found the couple’s son, 43-year-old Ardyth Prather III, deceased from gunshot wounds.
Police are looking for the suspect, Austin Prather, the son and grandson of the victims, who fled the scene in a brown 2013 Jeep Wrangler (see photo below).
“An arrest warrant charging Prather with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder” has been issued, according to Jones.
Austin Prather should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division is leading the investigation.
