2 house fires within 30-hour span kill 3 people

In the span of approximately 30 hours three people died in two house fires in eastern Kentucky.

The first deadly blaze occurred Saturday afternoon at about 1:30 on Hornet Drive in the Burlan community in Perry County when two men perished in a residential fire.

After extinguishing the blaze, the body of 45-year-old Jamie Stacy was found inside, according to multiple media reports. An unidentifiable body of a male was also found inside the burned structure.

The bodies were transported to the state Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown but an investigation is underway.

On Monday night at approximately 7:30, first responders were dispatched to a house fire on Delta Drive in the Elkins Branch community of Letcher County.

The victim, a 71-year-old woman, called 911 to report the fire but was unable to make it out of the home.

The woman’s name has not yet been released.

The investigation into the fire is ongoing.
