A man on the run for several hours after stabbing an elderly woman has been jailed.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38-year-old Richard C. Johnson after he stabbed a 73-year-old woman multiple times at a residence in Keavy Tuesday morning at approximately 1:00. Johnson was arrested Tuesday night at 10:00 and charged with attempted murder.
The victim was airlifted to University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center where she is listed in “very critical condition,” according to Sheriff John Root.
Officials said the victim is related to Johnson’s former girlfriend.
He was lodged in Laurel County Corrections on a $100,000 cash bond.
