A Hardin County woman has been arrested after she tried to burn down her house.

Kentucky State Police arrested 59-year-old Dorothy M. Camenzind Friday evening and charged her with first-degree arson.

According to a report by The News-Enterprise, the suspect was spotted in the yard of her residence on Stovall Road, about three miles northeast of Elizabethtown, acting erratically while not trying to extinguish a fire in the home (Camenzind lives at the residence but does not own the property).

She, at times, was crawling on all fours in the yard.

A passing motorist stopped and attempted to put out the flames but was told by Camenzind to stop. She then stoked the flames.

A trooper soon arrived and tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher while the suspect was inside the home. Camenzind then exited the residence yelling “something nonsensical to me before retreating back into the house while the fire was still burning,” according to the arrest citation, The News-Enterprise reports.

The fire was eventually extinguished and the suspect ordered by police to exit the home.

Camenzind was lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $250,000 cash bond.
