An elderly man has been injured in a head-on collision in Leitchfield.
Leitchfield Police Department Sgt. DJ Newton, Officer Chuck Hoover and EMS responded to the wreck in the 200 block of Sunbeam Road Saturday night at approximately 7:30.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found that a Chevrolet Spark, being driven south by a Grayson County man, topped a hill and encountered a northbound Hyundai Sonata in the southbound lane. Based on gouge marks in the pavement, the cars struck head-on about a foot inside the southbound lane.
The Sonata was propelled off the road and into a ditch where it traveled for 140 feet before crossing a driveway and entering another ditch line where it came to a stop.
In total, the Sonata traveled about 180 feet after the collision.
The elderly driver of the Hyundai was transported by EMS to Owensboro Health Twin Lakes Medical Center. The driver of the Chevy and his passenger were not injured.
