Mrs. Edna Mae McClure, age 92, of Leitchfield, KY passed away (Thursday, September 21st, 2023) peacefully surrounded by her family at her home.

She was born on May 26, 1931 in Grayson County, KY, the daughter of the late Oliver and Eva Jane Duvall Hayes.

Edna was a member of Eveleigh Church.  To know Edna was to be loved and accepted as one of her own. When you visited her home, she made every effort to get you seated at her kitchen table so she could feed you, which we all know was her way of letting you know you were safe, and you were loved.  There were few meals that in Edna’s eyes couldn’t be made better with a tomato she had grown in her own soil.  She was an avid gardener and took pride in her ability to harvest and preserve plenty of food to feed her family. She was an excellent cook and especially known for her cream candy. She taught many the craft, but it has been mastered by few. Serving others came naturally to her. Her many years of success with Avon and Tupperware demonstrates her dedication and character.

When asked what her greatest lessons in life were, Edna shared these words of wisdom.  “Love your family”, “Be considerate and kind to people”, and “Always make time for the ones you love.”

Edna was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Glenn McClure, her son Chester McClure, and grand-sons, Joshua Stanton, Gus McClure, and Terry McClure; Brothers, Stoy Hayes, Herman Hayes, Carl Hayes, and Charlie Hayes; Sisters, Gladys Wilkins, Anna Pearl Hayes, and Nancy Jane Hayes. one son-in-law, Kenny Vincent.

Edna is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary McClure (Elaine) of Bowling Green, Johnny McClure (Tami) of Caneyville; two daughters, Kathy Stanton of Murray, and Sharon Vincent of Leitchfield.  14 grandchildren, Sarah (Eric) Capp, Kelly (Daniel) Kirby, Rebecca (Jordan) Ricketts, Anna (John) Pitcock, Matthew Stanton, Ashley (Chris) Champion, John Adam (Brooke) McClure, Joey (Lauren) Faine, Katie Wilson, Dawn (Bruce) Poggenborg, and Christopher (Dawn) McClure; 20 great grandchildren and one more on the way; 1 great-great grandchild and one brother, Harlin Hayes of Clarkson, KY.
