A western Kentucky teenager lost her life in a single-vehicle crash where the girl was not wearing a seat belt.

Kentucky State Police said troopers responded to the wreck Saturday night at approximately 9:15 on Glenwood Road in Trigg County.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, being driven by a 17-year-old female, was traveling south when the vehicle left the road and struck a guardrail before continuing down an embankment. The vehicle came to rest in Little River.

The driver, who police said was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to Trigg County Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Her passenger, a 16-year-old female who was not wearing a seatbelt, according to state police, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
