Woman facing drug trafficking charges following traffic stop in Ohio Co.

An Owensboro woman is facing drug trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Ohio County.

The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on Hwy 231 north near the Ohio/Daviess County line.

Following a brief investigation, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and discovered approximately 1.5 ounces of methamphetamine and cash, according to Sheriff Adam Wright.

Polce arrested the driver, 61-year-old Julie L. West, and charged her with trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding (17 mph over the limit).

She was lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.
