Three people avoided major injuries after a minivan crashed into a guardrail on the Western Kentucky Parkway.

Friday afternoon at approximately 3:55, Leitchfield Police Department Officers Brian Jennings and Chuck Hoover and the Leitchfield Fire Department responded to the wreck near the 108-mile marker of the westbound parkway.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders found a westbound Kia Sedona, being driven by Margaret Bischoff, of Louisville, had struck the end of a guardrail, destroying 75 to 100 feet of the traffic safety device and causing extensive damage to the vehicle, which came to rest in the right lane of the westbound parkway.

Bischoff told police she thinks a tire may have blown out, causing her to lose control of the vehicle.

A male passenger suffered multiple cuts to his leg and head, but refused medical treatment.

The westbound parkway was reduced to one lane for approximately one hour as first responders worked the scene and the vehicle was removed.
