Two teenage girls perished in a single-vehicle accident in eastern Kentucky.

The accident happened Sunday morning at approximately 2:30 on Hwy 680 in Branham Creek in Floyd County.

Police told Mountain Top Media that the truck, being driven by 20-year-old Marcus Auxier, of Nippa, had six people inside and left the roadway and overturned.

Pronounced deceased at the scene were 13-year-old MaKenna R. Barnett and 16-year-old Kendra J. Moreno, both of Prestonsburg. The other four occupants were transported to local hospitals.

Moreno attended Prestonsburg High School while Barnett would have been a freshman at the school. Moreno was a member of the high school basketball, volleyball and softball teams.

A joint funeral for the teens is scheduled for Sunday at Prestonsburg High School.
