A box containing “several explosive devices” has been discovered in Ohio County.
Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright said deputies responded Monday morning at approximately 9:00 to a report of a “suspicious box located in an isolated location in a field.”
The investigation showed that the “package contained several explosive devices,” Wright said. It was determined that the package had been in the field for an “extended period of time,” and that there was not an “immediate threat to the public.”
The Owensboro Police Department’s Hazardous Device Unit was sent to the scene and “detonated and destroyed” the devices.
The Ohio County Sheriff’s Office is investigating how the package arrived at the field and the source of the devices.
