A Bowling Green Police Department officer who was shot in the line of duty earlier this month is out of the ICU.
Officer Matt Davis was struck eight times at Car-Mart at 1930 Russellville Road on July 7.
He was taken to a Nashville hospital where he has remained in critical condition.
Bowling Green City Manager Jeff Meisel told WBKO Thursday that Davis is “steadily improving” and going through rehabilitation after being shot in both femurs.
He also still has a bullet lodged in his neck near his carotid artery and one lodged near his spine.
Davis’ medical team is hesitant to perform surgery on those areas until his condition improves, according to the television station.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team.
