The cause of death of a Daviess County inmate that died Sunday has been released.

22-year-old Darrius Quarles was found unresponsive Sunday morning in one of the housing units of the jail.

Quarles was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Kentucky State Police told WFIE that he died from a heart attack due to a 98-percent blockage in a main artery.

Officials said that multiple inmates were involved in a fight earlier that morning. Quarles is seen on video reportedly collapsing after the altercation.

Law enforcement told the television station that the investigation will remain open but charges are not likely as Quarles was one of the main culprits in the fight.
