Despite a rainy start, the annual Twin Lakes National Fiddler Championship was held successfully at the Leitchfield Public Square on Saturday.
This year, the contest had 91 total entries from 10 different states.
“Overall, Fiddling went great over the weekend,” Leitchfield Tourism Director Ilsa Johnson told the city council on Monday. “(The) weather slowed things down early in the morning but we bounced back.”
The competition has consistently brought between 80-90 contestants annually to what has turned into one of the more well-respected fiddling contests in the nation.
“We had a good showing,” Leitchfield Mayor Harold Miller said. “What was good about this year was we actually had more contestants than last year and we had national championship-winning people that competed this year.”
Johnson shared that the planning for the 2024 festival is already underway.
