A federal investigation into missing body parts from a mortuary led the FBI to a Bullitt County home where they found human body parts being used as furniture and sold online.
WAVE News Troubleshooters broke the story regarding a raid on 40-year-old James W. Nott’s Love Avenue home in Mt. Washington where federal agents discovered 40 human skulls, hip bones and spinal cords among other body parts. Additionally, Nott, a felon, was in possession of a cadre of weapons, including an AK-47, several loaded firearms and body armor plates.
Nott, the report says, sold body parts on Facebook under the alias “William Burke.”
Nott served approximately three years in prison beginning in 2011 for having a “’mass’ collection of destructive device parts, including those for grenades and propellants,” WAVE News Troubleshooters report. He also admitted to previously constructing destructive devices.
Body parts were stolen from a mortuary in Little Rock, Arkansas, as well.
Lodge has been charged with “conspiracy and interstate transport of stolen goods for allegedly transporting and selling human remains across multiple states between 2018 and 2022,” according to ABCNews.com. At least four other people have also been charged in the case.
The investigation was initiated by the Pennsboro Township Police Department in Pennsylvania when that agency was told a man had human remains inside his home.
Nott was lodged in the Oldham County Detention Center.
