16-year-old Hodgenville boy will be tried as adult in fatal shooting of teenager

A LaRue County teenager will be tried as an adult after being accused of fatally shooting another teen.

Cody Love, 16, of Hodgenville, allegedly shot and killed 17-year-old Landon I. Knox, also of Hodgenville, in December 2022. Love was 15 at the time of the fatal shooting.

Kentucky State Police Det. Joey Beasley and the Hodgenville Police Department investigated the incident, which occurred Saturday morning, December 3, just before 5:00 at 116 East Forrest Avenue in Hodgenville.

State police said the investigation revealed that Knox and Love were in an altercation when Love shot Knox. Love then attempted to hide the weapon by tossing it in bushes.

The victim was transported to University of Louisville Hospital where he later died.

The suspect was lodged in the Adair County Juvenile Detention Center.

Love was recently indicted by a LaRue County Grand Jury on murder, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a handgun by a minor charges.

Knox was a student at LaRue County High School.
