A Leitchfield man being jailed on a DUI charge is facing a felony drug count after being found with a large amount of methamphetamine by a Grayson County deputy jailer.
Sunday morning at approximately 1:40, Kentucky State Police Sgt. Blake Owens observed a 2023 Harley-Davidson motorcycle swerving as it traveled 30 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone on Salt River Road near Big Clifty.
Owens executed a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, 69-year-old Dennis Bounds, with the suspect displaying “dilated pupils,” according to the arrest citation. The sergeant then conducted a field sobriety test and arrested Bounds.
Bounds, the citation states, became “argumentative” with Owens, while also “exhibiting a wide range of emotions from anger and excitement, to joking.”
While being booked into the Grayson County Detention Center, Bounds was searched by deputy jailers who located “a large baggy of methamphetamine” in his boot, according to the citation.
Bounds was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, his third such offense), DUI and reckless driving. He is no longer listed as an inmate.
