A Western Kentucky University student who caused multiple buildings at the school to be evacuated in September 2022 has accepted a plea deal.

Hailee Reed, 21, of Stanford, was initially charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, a class C felony, after a social media post bomb threat she made threatened the area near the Bowling Green campus’ Parking Structure 2, adjacent to the Downing Student Union and between Diddle Arena and L.T. Smith Stadium.

The WKU Police Department investigation conducted immediately after the threat was posted determined the threat was meant as a joke.

In the plea deal, according to media outlets, Reed pled guilty to second-degree terroristic threatening, with prosecutors recommending she be placed on diversion for five years. If she successfully completes the diversion program, the case will be dismissed.

Reed faced up to 10 years in prison prior to reaching the plea agreement.
