Following the discovery of a fetus in a shallow grave in a field in Scott County in December 2022, a Woodford County man is facing multiple charges, including child porn, child sex and other counts.

On December 6, 2022, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office discovered the fetus in a shallow grave in a field near the 5000 block of Paris Pike, according to multiple media reports. The fetus, police said at the time, had recently been buried.

On Tuesday, the Versailles Police Department arrested 21-year-old Daniel Holtzclaw, of Versailles, and charged him with concealing the birth of an infant, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, distribution of obscene matter to minors, possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor, procuring or promoting the use of a minor in a sex act by electronic means, and second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor.

Holtzclaw is accused of impregnating a 15-year-old girl and then, after the baby was born, disposing of the body. The teenage girl is a co-defendant in the case, according to a report by WKYT.com.

Both suspects claim the baby was stillborn.

Holtzclaw was lodged in the Woodford County Detention Center.
