An eastern Kentucky woman has been indicted for exploiting an adult.

The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office on Tuesday announced that an investigation and prosecution by the Medicaid Fraud Unit has led to the indictment of 31-year-old Courtney L. Arnett, of Stambaugh (Johnson Co.), for exploitation of an adult.

On April 6, 2023, a Magoffin County Grand Jury indicted Arnett for knowingly exploiting an adult and theft by failure to make required disposition of property, both class C felonies.

According to the indictment, “between December 2018 and January 2019 Arnett exploited the finances of a vulnerable adult.”

Arnett was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center but is no longer listed as an inmate.

This case was investigated by Det. Justin Cooley of the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Unit.
